In September 2011, Justin Bieber rented out Los Angeles’ Staples Center for a romantic date with Selena, about which everyone was talking. The two took in a private screening of the “Titanic” movie and dined in a romantic atmosphere. “Romance isn’t dead,” Bieber Tweeted that night. “Treat your lady right fellas.”
Speaking about her surprise, Selena told the magazine that, “If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic. I had just mentioned it in the car – all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then…”
Well, she is a talented and successful entertainer now, but life wasn’t so easy for her always. Selena Gomez opens up about her childhood struggles and says that she grew up poor. “I can remember about seven times when our car got stuck on the highway because we’d run out of gas money,” the actress recalls. Still her mother, “saved up to take me to concerts. She took me to museums, aquariums, to teach me about the world, about what’s real.”
Selena Gomez was born in Prairie, Texas, to a 16-year-old mother and 17-year-old father. She started her acting career when she was still seven, and that time she was playing Gianna on Barney & Friends. Later, in early 2007 Selena was cast in the Emmy Award-winning television series Wizards of Waverly Place. Talking about her work with Disney Channel, Selena says that people are of a wrong opinion and that she did things her own way.
“Disney is a machine, so people automatically assume that you can’t work for the channel unless you act and sing and dance and sign up for all that. That’s absolutely not true. I always did everything the way I wanted to do it,” Gomez says.
As of March 2012, Selena has been cast in six upcoming films. As for choosing her roles, the actress told Elle that, “I get offered the teenybopper movies, and I’ve done that. I haven’t done a mega-hundred-billion-dollar Transformers movie, but that’s not what I want to do either.”
In the interview with the magazine, Gomez also confesses that she was much inspired by Jennifer Lopez when she was still five. “I made a bustier out of a bathing suit that I dyed black. I put glue and glitter all over it and I wouldn’t take it off,” Selena says.
Selena hits the beach in Balmain and Yves Saint Laurent for the photoshoot of Elle’s July issue. She also dishes on her new movie, Spring Breakers, in a behind-the-scenes video. Speaking about her role, Selena says that it “is more like an indie role and it was completely different for me”. “Harmony Korine, which is the director, has such a specific vision and he really brings it to life in so many fun ways,” she added.
