No wonder, Kate Upton is a real “Beach Bunny”, as she sizzles in any swimwear shoot. She became popular after being featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2011, when she was named the Rookie of the Year. Later in 2012, she was announced the cover model of the magazine. Now the 20-year-old hottie model heats up the cover of GQ magazine’s July 2012 issue, looking provocatively sexy in a tiny bikini top. Inside the magazine, she talks about her career and controversies, as well as explains the reason why her male followers like her so much. Let’s take a look to learn more.
Apparently, Kate’s career started last April with “the Dougie”, a video filmed at a Clippers game at the Staples Center in L.A., which showed her dancing to the hit “Teach Me How to Dougie” by the hip hop group Cali Swag District. She reveals to the magazine that she didn’t practice for weeks before the big moment. “No! That was my first Dougie,” she insisted in the interview. And then she featured in The “Cat Daddy,” a twenty-second video in which she again shows off her dance moves while wearing just a bikini.
Kate grew up in a “traditional, all-American family.” Her father was a high school athletic director, while Kate’s mom was a housewife. Kate has two tattoos, a horseshoe on her wrist and a small cross on the inside of her finger proving her faith in God. “You have to think hard with a tattoo,” she says. “What will I love for the rest of my life?”
Talking about the funniest thing she has ever done after becoming popular, Kate hurried up to tell the magazine that: “For the GQ photo shoot, we were on that ride where the seat spins while the actual ride is spinning, and I’m wearing a one-piece. And all of a sudden the whole entire top falls off! I’m holding myself, laughing, turning bright red, but a lot of people are watching, so they kicked us out of the Santa Monica Pier — it was so embarrassing,” she says. “You wouldn’t think that would happen with a one-piece,” she adds.
Earlier this year, the Catholic League criticized the way nuns are portrayed in Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s remake of ‘The Three Stooges’, where Kate Upton emerges from a pool in bikini, a nun habit and a rosary. I can see why the Catholic Church would be upset with me,” Kate told GQ. “But it was just for fun, and I try not to take it more seriously than that.”
Speaking about the controversy that she was flirting with both Jets quarterbacks, Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez, Kate simply said that, “I’m going to be less emotionally involved this year.”
As for how she manages to have 370,000 Twitter followers, mostly men, she said that: “I grew up in Florida riding horses, so for the majority of my life I was either in boots and jeans or a bathing suit,” she tells GQ. “I understand why my male followers like me.”
On her career and taking sexy photos, Kate admits that, “It’s like any job. You find your strengths and play them up.”
